 
"Dooars" the word is derived from the word
'duar' or 'door'. The name signifies its location as a gateway
to the Eastern Himalaya, the hill stations of Darjeeling & Sikkim
Himalaya as well as Bhutan and Assam. The 130 X 40 sq.km. Dooars valley is covered with lush green forests and teagardens and intersected by the rivers like Tista, Torsa, Jaldhaka & their innumerable tributaries.
Dooars is the home to one horn rhino, gaur and many other rare species. A journey or a safari through these forests
in will be a life time experience.
Car safari, elephant ride or a few moment in the watch tower in
the jungle of Dooars are key attractions of Eastern Himalaya.
More than that there are beautiful sites in Dooars for organizing
adventure, educational & Corporate camps, through the year
except the rainy season.
Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary: It is the largest wildlife sanctuary in North Bengal with an area of 217 sq.kms. There are 240 species of birds, 20 species of mammals and various species of reptiles and fishes.
One horn rhino is the uniqueness of the forest of Dooars. Jaldapara is specially known for preservation of one horn rhino. An elephant safari in Jaldapara is the key attraction of Jaldapara.
Garumara National Park: The 87 sq.kms. National Park
in Dooars is well known for its wide range of bio-diversity that include 50 species of mammals, over 250 species of birds and many other amphibians, reptiles plants and trees. One horn rhino is the main attraction of Garumara. Besides there are species like leopard, elephant, barking dear and wild pig. If luck favors, one can see all these animals spending a couple of moments in the watch tower.
Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary: It is situated just at the foothills of Himalaya in the plains of
Dooars. With an area of 130 sq.kms. it hosts a wide variety of flora and fauna.
Buxa Tiger Reserve: At the eastern most end of
valley of Dooars there is Buxa Tiger Reserve the second largest tiger reserve in West Bengal. It is having an area of 750 sq.kms. with a core area of about 330 sq.kms. within this 315 sq.kms. is a sanctuary out of which about 115 sq.kms. area has been declared as national park.
