Snow capped mountains of Esatern Himalay:Snow capped mountains: Eastern Himalaya is the home to many high rise mountains. Mt. Kanchandzonga (8,583 mt), the third highest peak on the world is situated at Sikkim border. Kabru, Pabdim, Rthong, Simvo, Kunbhakarna are other important peaks of North East Himalaya, all range above 6,000 mt.

Lakes & Rivers: Eastern Himalaya is famous for its beautiful lakes & meandering rivers. Tsomgo, Gurudongmar, Khechipelri are some of the important lakes, offers beautiful views along with religious values. Tista, Rangit, Torsha, Jaldhaka are some oh the important rivers of North East Himalaya.




Darjeeling Himlayan Railway an attaraction of Eastern HimalayaDarjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR):Though popularly known as ‘Toy Train’ for its shapeand size. It is the second railway to be awarded the status of world heritage by UNESCO after Semmering Railway in Austria. DHR has a great potential to lure tourists to East Himalaya from all over the world. At present it has regular services from NJP to Darjeeling. The 7 hours journey is really enjoyable through ups and downs of Eastern Himalaya, the lush tea gardens and forests.



Rumtek Monastery- Buddhism in Eastern HimalayaBuddhist circuit: Buddhismis a very important religion in North Eastern Himalaya, specially is Sikkim. One can see various prayer-flags fluttering and many monasteries scattered all over the region. Sikkim alone has more than 200 monasteries mostly located in the beautiful natural surroundings.
