East Himalaya & Andaman
Eastern Himalaya & Andaman are the land of blue mountains, green valleys, ocean and beautiful beaches. It has a huge potential of natural beauty, flora, fauna and a rich cultural heritage. Snow capped mountains: East Himalaya is the home to many high rise mountains. Mt. Kanchandzonga (8,583 mt), the third highest peak on the world is situated at Sikkim border. Kabru, Pabdim, Rthong, Simvo, Kunbhakarn a are other important peaks of North East Himalaya, all range above 6,000 mt.

Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR): Though popularly known as ‘Toy Train’ for its shape and size. It is the second railway to be awarded the status of world heritage by UNESCO after Semmering Railway in Austria. DHR has a great potential to lure tourists to East Himalaya from all over the world. At present it has regular services from NJP to Darjeeling. The 7 hours journey is really enjoyable through ups and downs of Eastern Himalaya, the lush tea gardens and forests.
Buddhist circuit: Buddhismis a very important religion in North East Himalaya, specially is Sikkim. One can see various prayer-flags fluttering and many monasteries scattered all over the region. Sikkim alone has more than 200 monasteries mostly located in the beautiful natural surroundings. Rumtek Monastery in Gangtok is the Buddhist’s HQ of India. Enchey Monastery, Phodong Monastery, Pamayangtse Monastery, Tashiding Monastery etc are the important monasteries of North East Himalaya.
Tea tours: Tea is one of the important attractions of North East Himalaya specially in Darjeeling Himalaya, as it is the home to many renowned tea gardens producing premium quality tea. Tourists can enjoy the fascinating view of lush green tea garden on the lap of the hills or can enjoy the process of tea production and take part in tea leaves plucking activities. Makaibari Tea Estate, Castleton Tea Estate, Thurbo Tea Estate, Happy Valley Tea Estate, Temi Tea Garden are some of the important Gardens of North East Himalaya.
Forest & Wildlife: Dooars in the home to some of the famous National parks & wildlife sanctuaries of North East Himalaya. One horn Rhinos, Elephants, Leopard are the key attraction to the tourists. Jungle safari in Garumara National Park, Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctury, Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary, Chapramari Reserve Forest, Buxa Tiger Reserve would be a life time experience.
Beaches & Mangroves: Andaman is a place to enjoy beautiful islands, beaches & marine life. Sundarban is the home the world’s largest mangrove forest. A river cruise in Sundarban will offer you magnificent scenic view as well as marine & wildlife view.
Full credit goes to Mr Das for arranging the hotel bookings, vehicle and permits. The vehicle itself was very comfortable, and the driver, Mr Raaz, was very friendly and approachable. Not once did we face any hassle or problem during our entire trip.
Mr Das and his tour agency will be our first choice for any future trips in this region. Overall, it was a memorable experience for me and my friends.
